Mindful Movement
Somatic therapeutic movement is a way of arriving—of letting the body remember its own natural ease. Through gentle, embodied awareness, we meet sensation as it is, neither grasping nor pushing away, allowing the nervous system to soften its grip. As the breath deepens and the body grounds, the restless tides of the mind begin to settle. In this quieting, a steady presence emerges, carrying us naturally toward meditation—where body, breath, and awareness rest together in stillness.
Specifically, somatic therapeutic movement uses slow, mindful movements performed on the floor, to release tension trapped in the muscles, and to support the nervous system to calm and settle. This relaxed and steady state primes us to sit in meditation with focus and ease.
Yoga-informed movement is the practice of sustained attention—a way of gathering the scattered energies of body and mind into a single stream of awareness. Each posture is an offering of steadiness, each breath a gesture of presence. Moving in this way, we soften agitation, invite balance to the nervous system, and cultivate the collectedness of heart-mind that supports seeing clearly.
